Another Finish!

I have learned so much about quilting since I pieced this quilt. It's unbelievable!

I still like it though and it's not quite matching one that's on Mowg's bed.

This is for one of my nieces.  She love knights.

These aren't great shots, but I wanted to get pictures taken and I didn't have any quilt holders around

The stairs were marginal.

In any case a 2 or 3 year quilt is finally done!!

Lilac's Coming on

A little Pig on it's way with a favorite teacher to a new home.

We really love it

We've had a very wet spring, which has its delights.

Like Vivid Rainbows!

Double Rainbows!

"Can we try to find the end Mom?"

"You know that we won't..."

"Yes, I just want to, please."

"OK, go and see if the girls want to come."

So we chased the rainbows looking for an end. 

Instead we found swallow nests on a railroad cutout.

Cows, clouds and hillsides.

We saw horses and old charcoal kilns (no pics), an amazing sky, 

and the rainbows of course.

Best of all we enjoyed being together chasing.

Before we started  I found the end of rainbow, but I didn't dare stop the chase.

More precious than gold.

Have you seen Heather Givens Succulents line?  It's fantastic.  I will have some of it one day.  In the meantime however, here is a pattern that was shared during her kick off blog hop.  It's from Matierial Girl Quilts (Tutorial HERE with the Pattern available for purchase HERE for $8.)   

I love how it turned out!  My original intent was to have a larger succulent, but the fabric I choose in the other layers I made got swallowed up in the background.  So because of a deadline (and let's be honest I just didn't want to do it again right then) I went with the tiny start.  I couldn't be more pleased.  This is easily the best binding job I have ever done.  It's now part of the local library quilt show and I just couldn't be more please with it.  This is the kind of plant I can handle! 

 The great part about this pattern is that you can mix and match succulents with pots and even monkey around with some of the succulent layers if you want to.  It's a super fun pattern.  So until I can get my hands on the wonderful fabric, I'll be playing with my scraps.

Dr. Who Baby Quilt

I didn't realize until just now that there's a double meaning in that.

I'm really pleased that it finally turned out.  It was my first times making orange peels and I had a number of mishaps and false starts.  Now it's done and at home with an adorable little guy that isn't even one yet!  That's success I'm thinking.
