Technical Difficulties

Well I'm having technical difficulties. The drive that I download my pics with has disappeared. I mean I can see it, but apparently my computer can't. Anyway, I'll be slowing down a bit. Happy Days!

Happy Bunny Easter

We celebrate Easter in two days. The first is "Bunny" Easter with egg dying and easter bunny fun. The second day is "Jesus Easter" where we focus on the true reason for Easter. Today is Bunny Easter. Last night we dyed eggs:

Inside Spring

There's a tradition in my family where someone (usually Mom) goes out and "harvests" a blueberry branch about 2 weeks before Easter. We put it in water in the house and then it leafs out and sometimes blooms by Easter. Blueberry bushes aren't out my back door anymore, but Lilacs are. So here's my Lilac for Easter. It is green but my camera wasn't cooperating with me when I took the green pics, so you get a shadow.
Winter outside, Spring inside
We also planted wheat grass for Spring inside. It grows so quickly and Mowgli has been asking to plant SOMETHING.

The end of spring break

So I picked up another project I'm so excited about. It's editing the transcription of some oral history of some folks in this area. I think I've wanted to do something of this sort for 15 years or more. Ah contribute to the community, use a skill I already have, and learn some local history. I think that's it in a nutshell and have I mentioned.....I'm excited!

So that about wraps up my "spring break" with two exceptions:

One a postcard from the woman whose brainchild it was in the first place. There's nothing quite as neat as getting "snail mail".

Second is a fun visit to my sister's house. Why is it that doing someone else's housework is so much more rewarding than doing your own? I don't know, but it's true and it was great to get some stuff down to her. It was also fun to drive through one of the old college towns and remember as we drove through. It's funny the things that pop into your mind as you drive a once familiar street that looks and feels not quite so famliar anymore.

Fun times.

Spring and Fresh Lime

One of the greatest parts of this week was Tiger and I going on a date.
A real one.
We had hoped for nice weather so he could show
me how to use the fly fishing pole I got for Christmas.
As it turned out it was a little brisk for that so we visited our lovely
city museum and picked up a few fun things.
Our next stop was to a newly opened soda fountain in town.
We each has a "fresh lime" drink and a burger. It was so fun!
Thanks my love for a lovely time. You are a delight to be with.

Spring Break fun

The kids and Dad had some fun too:
Babyzilla Strikes Again
Babyzilla clears off the creating table
Paper, paints (dried) are all upset
It was a terrible crash
Bahgera: "I don't know how the train came off the track.
Will you make it go so I can catch it again?"
Mowgli: "Aaahhhhhhh! Babyzilla, Monkey, Tiger. Babyzilla, No! Aaaaaaahhhh!

The Great Race

Zebra Race Car versus Blue Camera

The great race begins as babyzilla aka Baghera looks on

Baghera has fun

Reading: Who Loves Baby?

It squeaks AND moves around!

It was some fun!

Spring Break Projects

So here's a little of what I did during my Spring Break:

The Grand Collection:

Pinwheels for Baghera:

I loved making these pinwheels. It was like magic when I finished each block. When my dearest one suggested I use a fabric the same color as the light blue in the floral print I was a little exasperated. I'm trying to use fabric I already have rather than buying more. I was sure I would have to buy a fabric in order to match it. Then I decided to look in one of my fabric stash areas that I hadn't looked at in a while. What did I find? The exact color I was looking for. Perfect!

Storybook Panel:

This one matches Baghera's quilt and the blue came from my "old" fabric.
Another perfect match.

John Deere for Mowgli:

I've been collecting fabric for this quilt forever. It was fun to finally put it together. I used a simple technique of sewing two blocks together and then cutting one side open. My dearest one helped me figure out how to put it together so it works. Mowgli kept asking me to play while I was working on it. I would ask if he wanted me to play or work on his quilt. He thought I should work on his quilt. It worked out pretty well for both of us.

A little side note:

None of these quilts are completed. It was sure fun to allow myself to jump from one to another though. Like skipping through a field of flowers with no fear of bees.

Fun for Spring

We went walking in the mud

I do love rocks. These are two of my favorites from the edge of the garden.

Could it be? Tulips! Planted 2 years ago.
(last spring they didn't show up at all!)

A very cold, very brief visit to see the bison and elk.
We also got to see 2 geese.
How do little guys maintain their interest when it's sooo cold?!

Is Anybody Out there?

Sailing, Sailing over the bounding main!
Thar she blows! Thar she blows!
Just a nostalgic picture of me and 2 of my siblings.
Can you guess who they are?
I don't know why they got rid of the Sandy Beach Submarine--it was the best.
Give Away!
Just to see if anyone besides my dearest love is reading this I'm going to have a little give away. Post a comment (I'm allowing anonymous comments to be posted, but you have to tell me who you are in your comment to be considered for this give away.) telling me something about your life that you are loving right now. One lucky person will receive a little "spring thing" from me. Thanks!

A Spring Distraction Project

I needed some flowers to balance the snow in my life.

Here are my "lolipop" flowers as Mowgli calls them:

On another topic, have you ever received a gift you wanted to tell everyone about?
I got one yesterday (really--no foolin'!). Here's a picture:

Can you believe it? I woke up and went down to an EMPTY sink.
No morning dishes.
Bliss.
Thank you my dearest darling.
An incredible gift!
